Laser Removal of Seborrheic Keratosis (SK)

Hello friends! Today, I’m going to share my review on laser removal of seborrheic keratosis.

Today, we’re at ProDerma Clinic at Sanam Pao (PRODERMA). I chose this clinic because it’s a specialized dermatology clinic, and the equipment is directly imported from the USA.

 

ปัญหา คือเวลาแต่งหน้า เราสังเกตเห็น จุดสีขาว สีน้ำตาล บนใบหน้า เอายาสิวมาทาก็ไม่หาย พอมาปรึกษา แพทย์เฉพาะทาง ถึงรู้ว่า อันนี้คือ กระเนื้อจ้า ไม่ใช่สิว การรักษามีทางเดียวคือเลเซอร์ออก พยายามถ่ายรูปให้ดู แต่เห็นยากจริงๆค่ะ

กระเนื้อ เกิดจาก กรรมพันธุ์และแสงแดด ซึ่งที่บ้านเรา เป็นกันแทบทุกคน พบเยอะในคนจีน โดนจะค่อยๆ มาก ขึ้นเรื่อยๆ และ ใหญ่ขึ้นเรื่อยๆ การเอาออก จะทำให้เม็ดนั้น หายไปเลย  แต่เม็ดใหม่ยังขึ้นมาได้

What is Seborrheic Keratosis?

The issue started when I noticed some white and brown spots on my face while applying makeup. I tried using acne cream, but it didn’t help. After consulting a dermatologist, I found out it wasn’t acne—it was seborrheic keratosis. The only way to treat it is with laser removal. I tried to take pictures to show you, but it’s quite hard to see them clearly.

Seborrheic keratosis is caused by genetics and sun exposure. Almost everyone in my family has it. It’s especially common among people of Chinese descent. These spots tend to increase and grow over time. Once removed, that particular spot disappears, but new ones can still appear.

วันนี้ เราจึงตัดสินใจ มาทำ เลเซอร์กระเนื้อ ชื่อ ซีโอทู CO2 หรือ คาร์บอนไดออกไซด์เลเซอร์ ซึ่ง เลเซอร์ตัวนี้จะ ทำหน้าที่ใน การเผาไหม้ ไฝ ติ่งเนื้อหรือกระเนื้อ โดยกระเนื้อ จะหลุดออกหมด ภายในครั้งแรก ที่ทำการรักษา

CO2 Laser หรือ คาร์บอนไดออกไซด์เลเซอร์ มีความละเอียด ในการทำงาน สูงมาก จึงสามารถ เลือกทำลาย เฉพาะ เนื้อเยื่อที่ต้องการ โดยไม่สร้างความเสียหาย ให้ กับเนื้อเยื่อโดยรอบ ไม่มีเลือดออก  และ ไม่จำเป็น ต้องเย็บแผล และไม่ทำให้เกิดแผลเป็น ซึ่งต่างจาก การผ่าตัดด้วยมีด ที่จะมีเลือดออก และ สร้างความเสียหาย  แก่เนื้อเยื่อรอบข้าง ซึ่งอาจจะทำให้เกิดแผลเป็นได้

My Face was Covered in seborrheic keratosis Spots

So today, I decided to undergo a CO2 laser (Carbon Dioxide Laser) procedure. This laser works by burning off moles, skin tags, or seborrheic keratosis spots. It usually removes the SK in one session.

CO2 lasers are highly precise, targeting only the unwanted tissue without damaging the surrounding skin. There’s no bleeding, no need for stitches, and no scarring, which is different from surgical removal with a scalpel, where bleeding and damage to surrounding tissue might lead to scarring.

Before the treatment, the doctor explained the procedure and post-treatment care thoroughly to ensure I was okay with it — and since I was already there, of course, I said yes.

ก่อนทำการรักษา แพทย์จะมาอธิบาย ขั้นตอนการทำ และการดูแลแผลหลังทำก่อนว่า เรารับได้หรือไม่  แต่ไหนๆก็มาแล้วค่ะ

 

ขั้นตอนการทำ เลเซอร์กำจัดกระเนื้อ

1. เริ่มต้น จะทำ การทายาชา แล้วปิดไว้ 30 -45 นาที ในบริเวณ ที่ต้องการทำ
2. หลังจาก รอประมาณ 30 ถึง 40 นาที เจ้าหน้าที่ทำการ เช็ดยาชาออกให้ แล้วเริ่มทำเลเซอร์
3. ปิดตา
4. เริ่มทำ การรักษา ระหว่างทำ รู้สึกแสบนิดๆ ทนได้
5. หลังทำเสร็จ ทายาฆ่าเชื้อให้ ปิดพลาสเตอร์ จากนั้นกลับบ้านได้

Steps of Seborrheic Keratosis Laser Removal

1. Start by applying numbing cream to the treatment area and cover it for 30–45 minutes.

2. After waiting about 30–40 minutes, the staff cleaned off the numbing cream and began the laser procedure.

3. Eyes are covered during the treatment.

4. During the laser, there’s a mild stinging sensation, but it’s bearable.

5. After the procedure, antiseptic ointment is applied, the area is covered with a plaster, and then you can go home.

เป็นดังคาด สะเก็ดเต็มหน้า

ข้อปฏิบัติหลังทำ เลเซอร์กระเนื้อ

• ควรหลีกเลี่ยง การโดนน้ำ บริเวณแผล ประมาณ 24 ชั่วโมง
• ต้องทา ขี้ผึ้งฆ่าเชื้อ (Antibiotic) จนครบ 7 วัน
• ห้ามแกะสะเก็ดแผล โดยปกติ จะหลุดออกเอง ภายใน 7-14 วัน
• หลังสะเก็ดหลุด จะเห็นเป็นผิวสีชมพู อยู่ไม่กี่วัน ก็จะหายเป็นปกติ
• ควรทาครีมกันแดด ทุกวัน อย่างน้อย SPF 15 ขึ้นไป
• หลีกเลี่ยงแสงแดด อย่างน้อย 2 อาทิตย์

After the Treatment CO2 Laser

• Immediately after, the wound looks like a small pit. The doctor reassured me that a scab will form by the next day, which it did — just as expected.

• My face was full of scabs the next day.

Post-Laser Care Instructions

• Avoid getting the treated area wet for about 24 hours.

• Apply antibiotic ointment for 7 days.

• Do not pick at the scabs. They will naturally fall off within 7–14 days.

• Once the scabs fall off, the skin underneath may look pinkish for a few days before returning to normal.

• Apply sunscreen daily (SPF 15 or higher).

• Avoid direct sunlight for at least 2 weeks.
