What is Botox in Bangkok? | ProDerma Clinic
Botox is a pure protein extracted from the Clostridium botulinum bacteria. It has the property of inhibiting the function of nerve signals to the muscles, causing the muscles to relax. This helps reduce movement in areas that cause wrinkles and deep lines. The result is a smoother, more youthful-looking face. It can also be used for facial contouring, jaw reduction, and calf reduction.
Mechanism of Action of Botox
When a doctor injects the appropriate amount of Botox into the target muscle area, the substance inhibits the release of the neurotransmitter “Acetylcholine,” which is responsible for muscle contraction. The result is that the muscle in that area relaxes, making the skin in that area smoother and the wrinkles shallower.

What to do after a Botox injection?
- For the first 4 hours after the injection, you should frequently exercise the muscles in the injected area to help the medication disperse well and prevent it from clumping locally.
- Avoid lying flat, facial massage, or any laser treatments for 4 hours.
- You should avoid sunlight and being in extremely hot places, such as a sauna, for 1 week.
- You should wash your face with clean water and only gently pat your face dry.
- You should return for a follow-up appointment as scheduled so the doctor can monitor the results. If you have any concerns or think something is abnormal, you can ask the doctor.

Side Effects of Injection?
Side effects are minimal; there might be pain at the injection site. Headaches may occur but are not severe. There might be muscle weakness in adjacent areas, such as a drooping eyelid, if the injection is administered in the wrong location or if post-treatment care is inappropriate (e.g., massaging immediately after injection).
