CO2 Laser in Bangkok for Selected Benign Skin Lesions

Benign skin imperfections such as moles, skin tags, warts, and milia are incredibly common, yet they can often affect one’s self-esteem or cause daily physical discomfort due to friction from clothing or jewelry. While there are various over-the-counter remedies available, attempting to remove these growths at home can lead to incomplete removal, severe infections, or permanent, unsightly scarring.

CO2 Laser Bangkok

Carbon dioxide (CO2) laser uses light energy absorbed by water in the skin to remove selected superficial tissue in controlled layers.

At ProDerma Aesthetic Clinics in Bangkok, near BTS Sanam Pao, CO2 laser treatment is performed by board-certified dermatologists after assessment of the lesion. The focused energy can remove selected benign skin growths while limiting injury to nearby tissue and helping control bleeding. Results, downtime and the risk of scarring or pigment change vary according to the lesion, treatment depth, skin type and individual healing response.

Why Choose CO2 Laser Treatment at ProDerma Bangkok?

CO2 laser treatment may be a precise and convenient option for selected benign skin growths after medical assessment.

  • Professional skin assessment: suspicious, changing or atypical lesions may require biopsy or surgical excision instead of laser treatment.
  • Controlled tissue removal: focused energy removes tissue in layers while limiting injury to surrounding skin.
  • Bleeding control: thermal coagulation can help reduce bleeding during treatment.
  • Personalized aftercare: instructions are tailored to the treatment site, lesion depth and skin type.
  • Dermatologist-led treatment: every lesion is assessed and treated by a board-certified dermatologist. Recurrence remains possible, particularly when a lesion extends deeper than expected.

Post-treatment: A small wound or scab commonly forms. Healing time varies, and prescribed wound care and sun protection should be followed.

The Laser’s Procedure

Skin Cancer Screening and Biopsy Before CO2 Laser

ProDerma Clinic offers skin cancer screening and skin biopsy services. Before CO2 laser treatment, a dermatologist assesses the lesion to determine whether it is benign and suitable for laser removal.

If a lesion appears suspicious or the diagnosis is uncertain, a biopsy and histopathology may be recommended before cosmetic treatment. When a biopsy is required, treatment planning follows the pathology results. CO2 laser is considered only for lesions assessed as benign and suitable for this procedure; another treatment may be recommended instead.

Not every mole or skin growth requires a biopsy. Your dermatologist will explain whether further testing is needed.

The CO₂ laser procedure for benign skin growth removal is a quick, precise treatment performed after a professional skin assessment confirms that the lesion is suitable for laser removal.

Consultation and assessment
The doctor examines and assesses the mole and reviews your skin concerns, medical history, and treatment goals. If a lesion such as a mole appears suspicious or requires laboratory testing, surgical removal may be recommended instead.

Preparation and numbing
The treatment area is cleansed, and a local anesthetic is applied or injected to help keep the procedure comfortable.

Targeted laser removal
The CO₂ laser removes the mole in controlled layers. Its focused energy vaporizes the targeted tissue while helping seal small blood vessels, which can minimize bleeding.

Immediate post-treatment care
A protective ointment or dressing may be applied after treatment. The doctor provides personalized aftercare instructions to support proper healing

NOTE: CO₂ laser mole removal is suitable only for selected benign lesions. Results and recovery time vary based on the mole’s size, depth, location, skin type, and individual healing response.

Treatment CO2 laser Bangkok

Time required: 30 minutes to 1 hour of outpatient visit.

May require more than 1 session depending on the size and depth of the lesion.

Anesthesia: Local, topical or injection

Risk

Risks vary according to the treatment site, lesion depth, skin type and individual healing response. Possible effects include:

  • Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or crusting
  • Temporary or persistent darkening or lightening of the treated skin
  • Infection, delayed healing or recurrence of the lesion
  • Scarring or textural change, particularly after deeper treatment or if aftercare is not followed

Who should postpone or avoid treatment?

Tell the dermatologist if you have an active infection or open wound in the area, a history of abnormal scarring or poor wound healing, are pregnant or breastfeeding, take medicines that affect healing or bleeding, or have recently used isotretinoin. Suspicious, changing, bleeding or atypical lesions should be medically assessed and may require biopsy or surgical excision rather than CO2 laser treatment.

All CO2 laser procedures at ProDerma are performed by board-certified dermatologists after individual assessment.

Post-care Instructions

Proper aftercare is important to support healing and achieve the best possible cosmetic result after CO₂ laser skin growth removal.

  • Keep the area clean and dry: Keep it dry for 24 hours and do not wash the treated area.
  • Apply prescribed ointment: Apply the prescribed  antibiotic ointment on the treated area twice daily for 7-10 days or until the wound is healed.
  • Do not pick or scratch: A small crust or scab may form after treatment. Allow it to fall off naturally to reduce the risk of scarring or infection.
  • Avoid makeup and skincare products: Do not apply makeup, exfoliants, retinoids, acids, or fragranced products directly on the treated area until the skin has healed.
  • Protect from sunlight: Avoid direct sun exposure and use sunscreen after the area has healed, as advised by your doctor. Sun protection helps reduce the risk of post-treatment darkening.
  • Avoid swimming and excessive moisture: Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and prolonged water exposure until the treated area has fully healed.

Healing time varies depending on the treatment area, lesion size, skin type, and individual healing response. Follow your doctor’s personalized instructions for the best recovery outcome.

Healing

Recovery has several stages. A small scab may form and should be allowed to fall off naturally. Scab shedding does not necessarily mean that the wound has fully healed.

Wound closure depends on the treatment depth, lesion size, location and individual healing response. Pinkness or pigment changes may last longer than the initial wound healing. Scarring or textural changes are possible.

Follow your dermatologist’s wound-care and sun-protection instructions. Avoid picking the area and contact the clinic if healing is delayed or you develop increasing pain, spreading redness or discharge.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About CO2 Laser Bangkok

Q: Does CO2 laser removal hurt?

A: A topical or injected local anesthetic is used to improve comfort. Sensation varies; some patients may still feel warmth, pressure or brief discomfort.

Q: Will CO2 laser treatment leave a scar?

A: Any procedure that removes skin tissue can leave a scar or pigment change. The risk depends on lesion depth, treatment site, skin type, healing response and aftercare.

Q: How long do the scabs last?

A: Small scabs commonly shed within about 5–7 days on the face and 7–14 days on the body, although healing time varies. Do not pick or scratch them.

Q: Can I wash my face or apply makeup after treatment?

A: Follow the dermatologist’s instructions. The area is commonly kept dry for the first 24 hours, then cleaned gently. Avoid makeup and irritating skincare directly on the wound until it has healed.

Q: How many sessions are required?

A: Some small superficial lesions may improve after one session. Deeper or recurrent lesions may require additional treatment, and recurrence remains possible. Suspicious lesions should be biopsied or surgically removed rather than treated with laser.
