Chemical Peeling

What Is Chemical Peeling?

Chemical peeling is a treatment technique used to improve and smooth the appearance of the skin which is typically performed on the face, neck or hands.  In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes the dead skin to slough off and eventually peel off.  The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

How Many Types of Chemical Peels?

There are several types of chemical used for peeling,  such as Glycolic acid (AHA), Salicylic acid (BHA), and Trichloroacetic. Different type of chemical peels are used for different purposes depend upon the patient’s concerns.

At  Proderma  Aesthetic  Clinics,  we  provide
AHA and  BHA peel

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and Beta hydroxy acid (BHA) are natural fruit acids.  They gently rejuvenates the skin by encouraging the shedding of old, sun-damaged surface skin cells.  A series of natural fruit acid peels stimulate new collagen and production, improve skin tone and texture, reduce the appearance of pore size, improve the appearance of fine lines, crepiness, blotchiness, irregular pigmentation, improve appearance of shallow acne scars.  In addition, this peeling loosens the glue-like substances that hold the surface skin cells to each other, therefore allowing the dead skin to peel off.  After light peels, the treated skin turns red or pink and heals without crusting. The skin underneath has a fresher, healthier look with a more even color and texture.

Facial peels using Glycolic Acid (AHA) or Salicylic Acid (BHA)  are excellent anti-aging and acne/scar treatments.   After a light peel, there is no down time or anesthesia necessary.

Is There Recovery Time Required?

There is no recovery or down time or anesthesia necessary and is a great alternative for working people allowing them the opportunity to have a peel during lunch break. However, it is important to avoid overexposure to the sun after a chemical peel since the new skin is fragile and more susceptible to complications.

How Frequent Is Chemical Peel Required?

Mostly the chemical peel is recommended more than once, especially for acne, oil control, spots and pigmentation treatment. The reason why the peeling is needed more than once is sebaceous glands produces oil perpetually and the peeling does not permanently stop sebaceous glands’ function. As a result, chemical peeling is recommended to be performed continuously, every 2-4 weeks.
